If you have been sexually assaulted and would like support or help to decide whether you want to report it to the police or not we can support you in your choice. We can offer you counselling whether you report or not to help you work through the trauma. -

We will explain all procedures to you and help you to make an informed choice about your care. Our staff are experts in advising, supporting and treating those who have experienced sexual violence. We help men & women, regardless of sexual orientation from the age of 13 upwards with our forensic service, crisis support & Independent Sexual Violence Advisor Service (ISVA) -

Young Devon
We can support Young People who have been subject to assault.
Non judgemental one to one support with a trained Youth Support worker. This will be confidential and young people can meet with a worker in our Youth Enquiry Services or we can offer outreach contact if this is not appropriate. This may include referral to our own or other agencies in order to provide additional support or specialist services to the young person led by their own wants and needs wherever possible. -

Have you been a victim of assault?
We can offer free and confidential pragmatic support to young people who have been the victim of crime. We also recognise that being the victim of crime can have a long term effect on emotional wellbeing and our specialist counselling service can provide a safe space for you to explore difficult feelings or risk taking behaviour. Do you need support to recover from an assault?
In Cornwall, Safer Stronger Consortium has a number of members that work to support victims coping with the effects of assault and battery. These include; WRSAC, CASSPLUS, White Gold Cornwall, BF Adventure, the Dracaena Centre, Konnect Cornwall, Equus, Victim Support. You can identify members by the Safer Stronger Logo. Assault and Battery is when someone threatens to hurt you or physically hurts you. Depending on the crime it may be called different things like: ABH or GBH or Common Assault. Our victim support workers can help you to find ways to cope with what has happened to you and move on. -

Headway Devon is a local charity providing support for people with acquired brain injury. Assault is one of the most common causes of brain injury, and can leave people facing complex physical, learning and emotional difficulties. Headway's knowledgeable and supportive staff help people to come to terms with what has happened to them and learn to cope with their difficulties so that they can go on to rebuild their lives. -

Race Hate Crime
If you feel that you were assaulted because of your ethnicity or religion this is defined as Race Hate Crime. PDREC offers on-going support to victims of Race Hate Crime. We can assist individuals and families in a wide variety of ways: Practical support e.g. benefit advice if you are unable to work, referral to counselling services, support through the Criminal Justice system and contact with the Police to ensure that the Race Hate aspect of the crime is taken seriously. -

VS understands those affected by assault can need emotional and practical help; not only direct victims, but their friends, family and any other people involved. Because we’re an independent charity, you can talk to us whether or not you reported the crime to the police. If you want, we can support you without the involvement of the criminal justice system, and we won’t contact them about you unless we feel someone is at risk. -

Addaction Cornwall and RISE in Devon provide a gateway to detox across the South West. YZUP in Cornwall also offers support to under 18s. We offer a free, confidential and non-judgmental service, open to all those who feel their alcohol/drug use is becoming a problem. Our service doesn’t just address drug and alcohol use, but offers education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities, peer support and support for family and friends. If you have been a victim of a violent attack this can lead to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other distressing mental health problems.
We have support workers that you can talk to in a safe environment about your mental health issues. We can help you explore what sort of help you need and we can signpost you to other organisations if needed. -

Personal attack
Living Options Devon provides both emotional and practical support to individuals. We support people with disabilities and Deaf people (whose first or preferred language is British Sign Language). Our volunteers and staff are trained to give emotional support, information and practical help to people who have been affected by crime. Many of our volunteers have a disability or are Deaf and have lived experience to be able to provide peer support. -

Support for people who have experienced violent crime
Our team of instructors are skilled in supporting people to develop strategies to overcome traumatic experiences and to improve their confidence and self-esteem. Using outdoor activities as a tool, and working at your pace, our friendly and professional instructors listen to your needs and respond accordingly. People need different support at different times; from one to one work, joining a group with others in a similar situation or as a family day out BF can tailor your time to meet your needs. The team is skilled in recognising when you might need a bit more specialist support and we will work with you to help you find the right organisation for you. -
