  • CLEAR

    CLEAR

Support for survivors of sexual abuse
CLEAR is a unique child centred therapeutic service in Cornwall that works with Children and Young People (CYP), between 0 - 18 years of age who have been traumatised by either direct experience or witnessing sexual, psychological or emotionally abusive relationships. They are referred through a variety of pathways including; Independent Domestic Violence Advocates, SARC Centres, Police, School Nurses, Parent Support Advisors, Refuges and Self-referral. The impact of abuse on the CYP affects their self esteem and emotional regulation. They often harbour an intense sense of guilt, shame and responsibility for what has happened to them. These survivors struggle with relationships with peers and adults, fail to engage to their maximum potential at school, display difficult and disruptive behaviours and are at increased risk of abusive behaviour themselves as adults. They may also self-harm or participate in risky behaviours. We provide individual therapeutic interventions using counsellors who have undertaken specialist training to work with children and young people. The interventions are tailored to the needs of the individual by offering several types of intervention including; sand tray work, play, narrative, music, art psychoanalytical and drama therapies, EMDR and Diadactic Psychotherapy (attachment work).
