Cruse Bereavement Care Devon Area

Cruse Bereavement Care is here to support you after the death of someone close. Face-to-face and telephone support is delivered by trained bereavement support volunteers across all of Devon.
We support Adults and Children.
We also have two Friendship Groups, one in Bideford and one in Exeter. We have counselling rooms in Exeter, Plymouth and Barnstaple and offer home visits in most of these areas, home visits only in all of South Devon.
Our Devon Helpline is open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Cruse Bereavement Care is a National Charity and we have Branches all across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

If you would just like to talk to someone to find out more information on what we offer, or you would like to make a self-referral, please call our Devon Helpline and we will be happy to discuss with you the best way in which we can support you. When you call the Devon Helpline, you may get through to an answerphone - please do not let this put you off. Just leave your name and telephone number and someone will give you a call back. The Helpline is run by volunteers, and we aim to call everyone back as soon as we are able, although this can sometimes take a couple of days.

For most of us, bereavement will be the most distressing experience we will ever face. Grief is what we feel when somebody we are close to dies. Everyone experiences grief differently and there is no 'normal' or 'right' way to grieve.

The Cruse National Helpline is staffed by trained bereavement support volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by a bereavement. Our volunteers are here to help you talk things through. They can also help you find your local Cruse service, or signpost you to support groups, financial advice, and other useful sources of information.

The Nationall freephone helpline is open Monday-Friday 9.30-5pm (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when we are open until 8pm.

The number is 0808 808 1677, and the webiste address is www.cruse.org.uk.

As well as our main Cruse website, our website RD4U is a website designed for young people by young people. It includes information and forums where young people can share their experiences.

If you are a young person and someone you know has died why not send a private message to one of our trained volunteers at info@hope again.org.uk who will reply to you by email.

If you want to talk to someone direct, call our FREE phone helpline on 0808 808 1677

We offer a number of leaflets and publications to help children and young people. There are also many fiction and non-fiction books aimed at helping children: check out our recommended books for children and young people.
