Devon People First

Devon People First is a peer led organisation for adults with learning disabilities. Our offices are run by people with learning disabilities, we employ experienced support people to help us achieve our aims. We believe that no issue is too small or to big. What is important to us and all people with learning disabilities is what is happening in our lives right NOW! We support people to have a voice by helping them to speak up or if they choose we can speak up on their behalf.

Devon People First is about supporting and helping Adults with learning disabilities to speak up. Our aims are to make sure that people;

.Can have better lives and be part of their community
.Are able to make their own choices
.Understand and get their rights
.Get good services and help to plan them
.Develop their ideas and skills
.Get more opportunities and can take risks if they want to
.Have their say in important meetings about them
.Get together with other people with learning disabilities to speak up and have a stronger voice
. be equal members of their community
. We aim to support people with learning disabilities to self advocate as much as they are able to, through helping them to learn the skills we have learnt.

  1. If you feel you have been Bullied, harassed or abused in any way because of who you are, for example because you have a learning disability, We can help and support you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime. We will give you the information and advice you need so you can have control and make your own decisions.

  2. If you feel you have been the victim of Domestic violence or abuse in any way, We can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime. We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own decisions

  3. if You feel you have been a victim of Assault we can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting a crime. We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own decisions

  4. If you feel you have been a victim of Burglary we can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime. We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own decisions.

  5. If you feel you have been a victim of Fraud we can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime. We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own decisions.

  6. If you have been a victim of Robbery we can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime. We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own decisions.

  7. If you feel you have been a victim of Sexual violence we can support and help you. We will work through with you what happens when reporting crime, We will give you the information and advice so you can be in control and make your own choices.

  8. Devon People First is a peer advocacy organisation, this means we are run by people with learning disabilities. We have very experienced support staff that help us support other people with learning disabilities to speak up about what is important to them.

  9. If you feel you have been a victim of any type of crime, Devon People First can support and help you to speak up about what is important to you.

  10. If you need to talk to someone about how you feel Devon People First can help you. We are a group of people with learning disabilities who have shared experiences. We employ very experienced support staff who help us achieve our aims. We believe no issue is to big or to small, we believe all people with learning disabilities should have a voice about what is important to them.
