Escaping Victimhood

EV is a national charity which provides residential workshop programmes for those adults who are suffering trauma as a result of serious crime. The programme is facilitated by professional, experts in their field and is individually designed to enable the victim to attain a more positive future.

The core programme is for those bereaved through murder, manslaughter or culpable road death, although programmes for other serious offences are being developed.

EV was set up by professionals who saw that the needs of victims of serious crime were not being met, resulting in health problems, relationship breakdown and an inability to function in the way they would wish to. They described themselves as feeling 'stuck' and feeling like they had 'gone mad'.

The residential programmes are NOT retreats but workshops for those who wish to 'understand the past and, embrace the future'. We know that this programme helps participants reconnect with families and communities and provides the tools for change.

We deliver programmes in different areas of the country, but participants can attend any programme regardless of where they live. We are currently in a position to be able to offer places to individuals free of charge, as we know many victims have been affected financially.
