Pentreath Ltd

Pentreath is a mental health charity in Cornwall who promotes positive wellbeing and aims to reduce stigma in the community. Clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and can access various programmes which include vocational and recreational related activities that encourage and empower individuals to achieve and move forward in their lives.

Our staff are our biggest asset and come from a variety of backgrounds, many of which have lived experience of mental health problems and the challenges which people can face when trying to move on with their lives. 40% of our staff have previously been clients or Pentreath and 50% have or have had mental health problems themselves. Clients report that this is inspiring for their recovery.

Clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are referred to us by mental health clinicians, GPs, Job Centre Plus there is also an opportunity to self-refer. Pentreath have been working with Pluss for 5 years as a partner in the work Choice contract

We ensure that we promote our service as widely as possible so that people are aware of us and the support we can offer. We reduce our current non engager rate by telephoning clients upon receipt of referral to match their needs to the most appropriate project within Pentreath.

We offer a specialist support service to clients by using the vocational profile tool to clearly assessing the aspirations, goals and past experiences of all our clients. We then Identify current skills and support the client to acquire new qualifications by developing a monthly action plan showing short, medium and long term goals.

We offer 1:1 support, with an individualised package of support. This will be bespoke and specific to the individual’s needs, abilities and barriers.

Our approach is to look at transferrable skills in the workplace and matching opportunities to attributes. This ensures that the “right job” is found and the client is more like to remain in work. We will support 25% of our clients into part time and full time employment over the year.

We can also offer syupport to clients to become more involved in their communities and engage with activities that provide structure.

We provide information on other potential support service and where necessary supporting the client to access this.
