The Safer Stronger Consortium (SSC) offers pathways of emotional and practical support to victims of crime to support recovery from harm so they may rebuild lives with courage and confidence.

These pathways include the following support:

• Accommodation and Housing
• Education, Training and Employment
• Health and Mental Health
• Drugs and Alcohol issues
• Finance, Benefits and Debt
• Children and Family
• Thinking and Behaviour
• Restorative Justice

Victims can self-refer to SSC via the Victim Care Unit gateway.

REFERRAL PROCESS
The SSC Coordinator will contact the victim within 2 working days of receiving the referral from the Victim Care Unit. They will then make contact with you by telephone to arrange a more detailed review of need with the victim. The review will inform what support, emotional and/or practical, that will best meet the needs of the individual or family. The Coordinator will then make a referral, or multiple referrals to the most appropriate service(s) available through the SSC network. The Coordinator will act as a key point of contact for the initial referral and throughout the period of support, to ensure that the support is coordinated in a timely fashion and that the changing needs of the victim can be met.

WHAT IS SSC?
Safer Stronger Consortium (SSC) exists to bring together existing organisations, of various shapes, sizes and ages to create one flexible and multifaceted organisation working towards a number of interrelated purposes, including offering victims a supported service through one gateway.

Partner organisations’ unique identities and specialisms are preserved enabling SSC to retain a strong root in local communities, and provide support to individuals throughout the course of programmes.

SSC tackles the geographical disadvantages for victims and their families through early identification and through links with the OPCC Victims Care Unit and new configurations of resources. The diversity of SSC’s membership strengthens its offer to victims.
